It Started With a Call From L.R.

I had just finished a day of trading when my cell phone rang.  I was surprised to see it was L.R. calling.

L.R. is an expert on computing probabilities in small samples of numbers as well as gaming theory.  I don’t know much about what this means but I do know that he has been very helpful in developing winning gambling systems.

We weren’t working on any projects so I was intrigued to see what he wanted.

I answered my cell and he got right to the point.

“What do you know about blackjack?” he blurted out.

”I know enough to respect the game.  And, I’ve learned that I never want to try card counting again.  Why do you ask?”

“The professor has decided he wants to develop a new way of winning at blackjack.”

I waited for L.R. to continue.  He was referring to Professor Z, an expert on probability and statistics.

When L.R. didn’t say anymore I spoke, “There has probably been more study of blackjack than any other game.  I am sure that you can find lots to occupy you.”

“That’s not the problem.  The problem is that the Professor wants to use an entirely different approach.  That’s supposed to be my job.  However, I’ve hit a major roadblock.  That’s why I’m calling you.”

I kind of chuckled.  In the past I had been the one working on a gambling system and I had called on L.R. for help.  Now it appeared the tables were turned.

“How can I help?” I answered.

We ended by setting up a meeting in my home office the next day.  I have to admit that I was more than a little curious.  After all, I still had a bitter taste in my throat over my bad experiences trying to beat blackjack with card counting.  Maybe L.R could come up with a better way.

L.R. Fails to Crack the Blackjack Code

L.R. arrived the next day with plenty of information about blackjack.  In fact he had two overstuffed notebooks full of testing he had done to develop a way to beat blackjack.

He started out by giving me the theory behind his approach.

“As I told you our approach is different from card counting.  Card counting attempts to predict changes in trends.  Our approach is to accept trends as they are and then beat them.”

He pulled out a summary of the systems he had tried.  It went on for pages.  As I flipped through the pages I asked him –

“You’ve tested every one of these systems, right?”

“Every one,” he said somewhat despondently.

“And what is the problem?” I asked.

“Let me show you this System AH-4.”

He picked a different tab and showed me a summary of the system.  It was a complex betting scheme which attempted to match bet sizes of blackjack trends.

He turned several pages summarizing his testing.

“See, it worked fine until here,” he said pointing at a different page, “And, here,” he added turning to a different page.

“Each time I get a system set up that looks promising it breaks down.” 

“Look at this one,” he stated turning to yet another page.

I realized that the only way I could possibly help him was to study what he was doing in detail.

“Why don’t you take a break, L.R.  Leave this notebook with me a few days.  I’ll apply a trader’s perspective to your systems and see if I can discover what’s wrong.

L.R. seemed visibly relieved.  As he handed me the notebook he mouthed, “Thank you.”

I Discovered that Long Losing Streaks Were Killing L.R.’s Systems

One thing I had learned in my attempts to win using card counting is that blackjack may be streakier than any other game.

If you are in a winning streak that can be good.

However, I had learned that blackjack losing streaks are more frequent and can be longer than the winning streaks.

That’s the first thing I looked for in reviewing L.R.’s play.

I flipped the pages and spotted a losing game –

It was the victim of a long losing streak.

I looked at the next page.  There was another losing game caused by a long winning streak.

By the time I had reviewed all of his games it was pretty obvious that his approach was not working and the culprit was obvious –

L.R.’s systems had no way to overcome long losing streaks.

I set up a simple Betting Strategy that I thought might work.  I picked one of his most promising betting systems and called it System-1.

I tried it online in free practice mode at my favorite online casino.  I played System-1 and set up a set of rules that would tell me when to change to System-2, the new system to handle losing streaks.

I played for a whole evening, wrote down the results and sent them as an email attachment to L.R. 

L.R. Loved the New Approach and Quickly Refined It Into a “Fearsome System!”

L.R. sent me a text the next day.  He told me he loved the system and he had fixed a flaw I had left in it.

I couldn’t think of any flaw as I thought my changes were pretty effective.  However, L.R. had given me good advice before so I decided to hear him out.

When I came into his office his desk was covered with blackjack tests. 

“Giving my new system a test I see.” 

“This is more than that.  I am trying variations to see which is the best.”

He quickly explained.

“Your idea of using a second system as sort of a backup system for the main system is really brilliant.  Now I am trying to perfect a Timing Trigger.”

He could tell by my puzzled look that I didn’t know what he was talking about.  So he showed me.

“What I am looking for is a simple way to know when we have to change systems.  Your approach advocated changing if a certain level bet was lost.  However, this still leaves problems.  What I am trying to find is a lower-level switch that will give us even more protection.”

At this point I got what he was talking about.  With my approach we didn’t change systems until we had lost a number of bets in System-1.  L.R. was trying to refine the switching signal to give us even better protection from losses.

I asked him if he would like some help and he said that he would.

We set up a series of propositions to test.  I took the first group and he took the second group.  We agreed to give each set of options a reasonable test and then get back together in a week.

We Add a Timing Trigger That Ties the System Together

L.R. and I met in my office eight days later.  I felt like I had come up with a really accurate solution and I was curious to see what he had discovered.

As we laid our work out it became apparent that we had zeroed in on the same solution from opposite directions.

As L.R. and I compared notes he smiled.  “Well at least we won’t have to argue. I think we can test this some more and then see what the Professor thinks.”

At this point I was fairly hooked on the project.  We had developed an extraordinary new way of playing blackjack.  Of course we still had to test it some more and L.R. wanted the Professor’s blessing. 

L.R decided to present our system to the Professor.  Meanwhile I decided to test it playing online.

Professor Z Liked Our System But Felt It Lacked What He Called “The Killing Instinct”

I didn’t hear from L.R. for several days.  Then he called which is unusual since he usually texts or emails. 

“I presented our system to the Professor.”  He paused.  “And it doesn’t look good.  I think I need your help.”

I agreed to meet L.R. and the Professor in the university faculty dining room the next day at noon.  While the food isn’t all that great this was the Professor’s call and I wanted to hear what he said.

We sat down at a table with a white linen table clothe with matching cloth napkins.  L.R. and I got there first and he filled me in.

“The Professor give us full credit for creating a way to counter long string of losses.  And he thinks our timing trigger is brilliant.”

“So what’s the problem then?  Looks like we’ve delivered a very usable system.”

“That sounds like what the Professor said.  He also added that this system lacks a Killing Instinct.”

I asked L.R., “What the hell is that?”

L.R shrugged.  “Here he comes.  Let’s ask him.”

We talked about university issues while the Professor waited for his specially brewed tea.  Once his tea was there he began –

“I like this system very much.  But it lacks what I call the Killer Instinct.”

I looked at L.R. and he gave me a slight nod.  “That’s what L.R. told me you said.  However, I’m not sure I understand.  Can you explain?”

“I can do better than just explain.  I can solve.  Let me show you . . “

The professor opened a small valise.  It’s leather was cracked and discolored and he pulled out a small folder.

“You see here what you call System-1.  It is very good but look what happens to it if we change it’s structure.”

L.R and I both leaned forward.

“You’ve reduced the size of many of the bets and added a couple more bets.  How does this help?”

“Well, you might wait till I finish.  I also changed your betting rules.  Instead of just proceeding along, you now do this – ”

He showed us an example of how his betting series was different.

“With your original approach your bets got too large.  And there were too many of them.  Now, see what happens –”

He showed us a series of bets.  I began to understand.

“With this new approach you wrap up the wins much faster.”

“And with less money risked,” he added.

“And that’s what you mean by –”

“The Killer Approach. Use smaller amounts to accomplish more things and do it faster. On the other hand once we set up these quick kills we can change the Sysem-2 bets.

He showed us a new way of reading the System-2 bets.

L.R. and I stared at each other and then laughed.  “I think he has done it again.”

The Professor finally smiled.  “Of course I have.  Now you have to prove that it works.  But before you start please pass me my teapot.”

Using Tracker Bets to Trap the Dealer!

L.R. and I decided to each do some testing of the Professor’s modifications and then compare notes.

I practiced the new system until I felt like it was ready for a real test.  I had a balance of $127 left in one of my online casino accounts and I decided to see what would happen if I tried the new system.

I started play making $1 bets and I was very impressed with the win rate.  I recorded every bet so that I could analyze my play later.

I set a profit goal and the first thing I noticed was how quickly I would reach it.  Each time I hit my goal I would log off and then log on again so that I had real breaks in my play.   And, I wrote down what was happening.

After about 45 minutes of play I counted the number of times I had hit my Profit Goal  -

Nine times at this point.

This was outstanding performance.  This modified system was amazingly strong!

As I played I really appreciated what the system was doing –

First the System-1 Bets were literally tracking the game of blackjack.  Then it would set up bets that would “trap” the dealer and win.  I say “trap” because that’s exactly what happened.  My bets would set up situation after situation where I would win and hit my profit goal.  If the dealer did this, I countered with that.  No matter what happened I won!

As I played I began calling the System-1 bets Tracker Bets because that’s exactly how they worked –

They tracked the number of wins and losses and then set up Traps to beat the dealer.

If they couldn’t set up a Winning Trap right away they might switch to the System-2 bets. I now thought of these bets as Defender Bets because that’s exactly how they worked.

It didn’t seem to matter whether I was still making Tracker Bets or had temporarily changed to Defender Bets.

Either way the system would quickly set up another Dealer Trap and lock up another win.

I became more and more fascinated with how the system attacked, backed off, countered and then ultimately won.

This was nothing like card counting or using a betting progression.

Time after time I was trapping the dealer and rolling up higher profits!

I Lost Track of Time and By the Time I Noticed I had Won $5,789!

I continued to play blackjack using the newly completed Tracker Blackjack Strategy.

As I rolled up the winning games I started gradually increasing the size of my bets.

One of the safest ways to win big is to scale your bets to your bankroll and I would increase the size of my bets every so often as my winnings continued to pile up.

Finally I realized that it was way past my bedtime – Almost five hours had passed since I started playing.

What was even more impressive was what I had accomplished –

I had turned my starting bankroll of  $127 into a Super Win of $5,734.

I couldn’t wait to contact L.R.!

L.R. Had His Own Story to Tell Me –

I was busy the next morning.  The markets were moving and I had several trades to monitor.  It was a touch and go day and I finally locked in a good profit about 3:30 EST.

This was about as close to excited as L.R. ever gets.  Most of his messages start with something like, “Re:  Attached Doc 234,” or Re:  Follow up per last request.”

For me to get a subject line with a touch of excitement was so rare that I couldn’t wait to see what was in it.

At first I was taken aback.  L.R. had reverted to his usual form –

“Tested System.  Results Attached.  Call Me.

L.R.”

Once I opened the attachment I understood L.R.’s excitement.

He had attached a summary of the games he had played the night before.

While I had been excited about making $5,000 in an evening, L.R. put me to shame –

He had picked up $37,459 playing online using Tracker Blackjack!

And he had done it in just nine hours!

This was indeed a cause for a celebration!

Three Days Later I Had to See How Much I Could Win Starting with Just $50.

With card counting you have to start with a lot of money and hope to win a little.  By now I knew that Tracker Blackjack was in a category of its own with its ability to literally trap the casino into losing.

I decided to give the system a real workout online.  I had four days off.  Originally I had planned to review my trades for the last year but playing blackjack online seemed like a lot more fun.

I decided to see how well I could do starting with just $50.

I signed up with an online casino that was on my “A List” where I had never played before.  I knew they offered a decent blackjack game and this seemed like a great place to see just what Tracker Blackjack could do.

I deposited a total of $50 into my new account.  This casino gave me a 100% sign up bonus so that with the bonus I had $100 in my account.

My plan was to start out with $1 bets and then increase my bets as I qualified to safely play at a higher level.

This is similar to a trading technique I have used called bet scaling. I knew that it would be a sound way to play.

I started playing at 8:15 in the morning.  I kept track of my play so that I could analyze it later.  About 11:30 I decided to take a lunch break.  At this point I had made $2,011.

Up Over $2,000 for the Morning – How Would I Do This Afternoon?

Earlier that day I had started with a $50 “investment” making $1 bets.  With my bankroll now over $2,000 I knew that I could safely handle making $20 bets!

In a little over eleven minutes playing at this level I was over $2,500 ahead.  This system was winning so fast that it really kept me on my toes!

I checked my scaling plan and noted that I was now qualified to make $25 bets.  “What the hell,” I thought.  I pulled out my plan for making $25 bets and immediately started betting at this level.

I kept track of my winnings and just 33 minutes later my bankroll hit $3,564.  I checked to see where this put me –

My plan told me that I could now safely move up to making $35 bets.

One of the features of Tracker Blackjack is that your bets never get too large.  I checked the maximum size bets accepted by the casino and saw that it would have no problem accommodating my play.

I continued to blast my way to higher and higher profits.  I decided to take a break before I resumed play.

After a fifteen-minute break and a short walk I was ready to start again.  I decided to play a little in free practice mode before I continued playing for real money.  Ten minutes of practice convinced me I had nothing to fear playing at this higher level.

By 3:00 my winnings had grown to $8,351.  I decided to play one more hour and then call it a day.

At 4:05 I set up another winning dealer trap and checked my bankroll.  It was now at $13,153.  I little quick math showed that I had won $13,203.  I decided to take the rest of the day off, catch up on my email and review last week’s trading.

Fifteen minutes later I realized I was too excited to look at trading records.  I had just cleared $13,000 in profit playing maybe a total of five hours.  This called for a celebration!

The Next Day I Blasted My Way Up to $47,873!  Here’s What Happened . . .

Before I started playing I evaluated my position again.

With a balance of over $13,000 in my online account it was time to ratchet my bets up again.   I reviewed my bet sizes for different levels of betting and decided that moving up to $50 base bets would still keep me under the casino’s bet limits.

After I had played in free practice mode for ten or fifteen minutes, I logged on to my money account.

I played about thirty minutes and stopped to see how I was doing –

I had won another $3,568 since I started playing.  When I thought back to how I had struggled to make $500 a day counting cards I almost doubted that this was really happening.

But it was.  It was as real as life itself and I was experiencing it!

I played a total of three hours before taking my noontime break.  When I logged off, my bankroll stood at $34,112.  I had won a stunning $20,859 that morning!

I meet a couple of friends for lunch in a new restaurant.  I listened to them carrying on about some new investment deal that were interested in. I kept quiet about what I was doing;  However, I couldn’t help but think  

“If these guys knew that I had won over $34,000 in a day and a half off a $50 investment we might have to call an ambulance.”

The lunch took longer than I had planned and I didn’t get back to my computer till about 3:00.  However, I was feeling relaxed and actually relieved to be out of there.

I logged on to my account and continued making $50 bets.  By 4:00 my balance reached $41,089.  I decided to call it a day at 5:00 after setting and winning another dealer trap.

My account balance stood at $47,873.  I had won over $47,000 in two days.  I thought about working on reviewing my trades and I couldn’t get into it.  Instead I poured myself a cocktail and thought about the next day.

The Next Day I Continued to Build On My Winnings!

Today I planned to build up my winnings by continuing to make $50 bets.  I put in a solid morning’s play and I was up to $63,892 by noon.

I ate a quick sandwich and took a short nap before playing that afternoon.

Thirty minutes later I logged on again intending to play until about 5:00.

By 4:40 I was tired and decided to log off.  My bankroll stood at $89,388.  I logged off still amazing at what I was witnessing.  I was burning down the game of blackjack and having a blast doing it!

By The End of Day Four My Winnings Hit $102,245.  I Could Learn to Like This!

I woke up the fourth day of my experiment very excited.  As I drank my morning coffee I had one thought on my mind –

“I am going to hit $100,000 in winnings today!”

With that goal firmly in mind I took a relaxing shower, dressed and had a bowl of cereal.

When I finally sat down to my computer I had an almost tingly feeling in my fingers.

To combat my nervousness I played in practice mode about fifteen minutes.  This really helped as I felt like I had my rhythm back.

I logged on my account. My account balance showed $89,438 consisting of the $50 I had used to set it up and $89,388 in winnings 

I knew I was ready and I started playing.

I played for about an hour and then took a break.  My winnings now stood at $96,412.  I was close.  I took a little break but couldn’t get my mind off of play and went back to my computer in less than fifteen minutes.

I logged back into my account and resumed making $50 base bets.  I had been playing at his level long enough that I didn’t even need to refer to my playing card to make all of the bets.

I would set up the Tracker Bets and then, depending on how the game was going, I would quickly set up another winning Dealer Trap or perhaps take a brief detour making some Defender Bets.  The results always turned out the same.  Whether it took one bet or sometimes as many as five or six bets I always completed the sequence by closing the trap on the dealer and increasing my winnings.

Now as I played I couldn’t help but watch my bankroll.

In less than thirty minutes I hit $98,203.

I wasn’t tired so I kept on playing.

Thirty-Five minutes later I checked on my balance again –

Time to stop.  I had accomplished my goal.  Now it was time to do a little record keeping.

I had kept track of the amount of time I was actually logged on playing and now I was curious just how long it had taken me to turn $50 into $102,245.

I added up all of my sessions.

Even though it was only three days ago it seemed like a long time ago when I started out making $1 bets.

I reviewed my play noting the amount of time I had played at each level.

When I got finished there it was –

I had turned $50 into $102,245 in a little over nineteen hours!

That works out to $5,379 an hour in pure profits!

And, even more importantly I had never failed to win.  Not even one time!

Next I Headed for Las Vegas!

After winning over $100,000 playing online the next step was Las Vegas.  While several local casinos offer decent blackjack games they don’t accept bets greater than $500.  If what I envisioned took place then my bets would be much larger than $500 after a day or two in Las Vegas.

I called Martin Silverthorne, who lives in Las Vegas, and told him about Tracker Blackjack.  Martin has helped me in the past as both a system advisor and as a publisher and I wanted to get his reaction to this new system.

I sent him complete information about Tracker Blackjack and he called me a couple of days later.

“This is a really interesting blackjack system.  If you want to come out next week I can take some time to meet with you.”

We worked out the details and the next Monday night I flew to Vegas.

Martin had advised me to visit during the week and my plans were to play on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and come back on Friday.  I didn’t plan to play the last day so that I could relax Thursday night before coming come.

Martin met me at the airport.  He took me to Rio Hotel and Casino and I checked into my room.  After check-in we headed over to Martin’s place to relax and get caught up.  I was open as to where I played and I hoped that Martin would help me figure out the best itinerary.

I explained that I wanted to start with small $5 to $10 bets and then work my way up as my bankroll grew.  So, I needed to play at a casino offering decent blackjack and accepting smaller bets with higher betting limits.

Martin thought about it and suggested that we meet for breakfast at Arizona Charlie’s on Decatur.

“It’s a real local’s place.  Plus they offer a decent game with a bet range from $5 to $1,000.”

We had breakfast in their coffee shop the next morning.  Martin had another commitment and he told me that he would meet me for lunch whenever I wanted to take a break.

I walked over to an open table, bought in and started playing.  I played at the $5 level for a few minutes, got comfortable with the game, and increased my bets to $10.  This was to be my official starting level to see just how much I could win in the next three days.

I stayed at the $10 level for a little less than an hour and a half before moving up to $15 betting.  From there the moves were very fast.

Within 45 minutes I had moved up to $20 betting and in another 35 minutes or so I was making $25 bets.

After about an hour at this level I checked my winnings –

I Was Up $2,693 And It Was Time to Make the Next Move –

I increased my bets to $35 betting.  Before I had come I had made a set of player cards with one card for each level of betting.  Whenever I changed bet sizes I also changed player cards so that keeping track of my bets was never an issue.

I stayed at the $35 level a little over an hour and decided to take a break.  At this point I was up $4,984 and I was ready for a break.

I called Martin and he told me he would be by in a few minutes.  He had a place in mind for lunch.

Martin picked me up out front and asked me if I liked New Orleans style food.  I told him I did and we headed for Canal Street at The Orleans. 

They knew him there and they had a fine table and a bottle of wine waiting for us.  Lunch was leisurely and by the time we finished I felt like I needed a nap before playing any more.  We made plans to meet that night and he dropped me off at my room.

By 4:30 I was rested and I decided to finish up the day at Arizona Charlie’s. I drove over to the casino and resumed playing where I’d left off making $35 bets.

It didn’t take me long to move up to $50 bets.  I spent about an hour and fifteen minutes at this level and decided to call it a day.  I colored up, cashed in and did a little bookkeeping.

I had gone from $10 to $50 bets my first day.  Even more important I was up $6,119.

I called Martin and offered to treat him to dinner.  We ended up eating at Ron’s Steakhouse at Arizona Charlie’s and I was totally stuffed by the time I got back to my room.  Martin was not available until noon the next day.  However, I planned to spend the next day at Bally’s, one of my long-time favorite places!

I Got My Revenge at Bally’s!

I have a love-hate relationship with Bally’s.  I love it because I played there for many years when the old Barbary Coast was still open across the street.

I also have bad memories of my last visit.  At that time I was still trying to beat blackjack by counting cards.

I brought a bankroll of $25,000, which is still small by card counting standards, but was all that I had available.

The first day I lost about $400.

The next day I lost another $700.

On my third day the cards turned favorable several times and I increased my bets according to high counts.

That day was a disaster.  I ended up losing $9,400 – my biggest loss ever!

That was the last time I ever tried card counting.

However, I had had many good times at Bally’s and I wanted to have a different experience at blackjack than I had had the last time I played.

Bally’s offers six-deck games with doubling after splitting allowed and also offers surrender.  With a bet range of $25 to $5,000 it was perfect for what I had in mind.

I warmed up playing with $25 bets for about ten minutes and then moved up to $50 bets, picking up where I had left off the day before.

After playing about 30 minutes I moved up to $75 betting.  Once again the transition was easy as I simply pulled out the player card I had set up for $75 betting and continued to play.

Tracker Blackjack continued its inevitable winning ways.  I would start a sequence making Tracker Bets.  If I ran into a losing streak I would switch to making Defender Bets.  No matter what happened I would end up setting up and closing one Dealer Trap after another.

After locking up another winning sequence, the dealer commented that he had never seen my system before.

“I don’t know what you are doing, but it sure is working.”

As I kept the dealer well tipped he was perfectly happy for me to keep winning.

A couple of bosses came by, watched my play, seemed to get bored and disappeared again.

I played at the $75 level a little less than an hour and checked my winnings –

I was up $2,892 and it was time to make another move.

When I started making $100 bets I got the bosses’ attention.  I had a boss watch my play for a few minutes. 

Before he left the table he handed me a free meal comp.  Considering that I was now a black-chip player I thought this wasn’t much of a comp and I mentioned it to the dealer.

“You’re lucky you got that.  We hardly comp anyone any more.  It’s not like the old days.”

I thought to myself, “Thank goodness it was not like the old days.  My last trip here as a card counter had been a disaster.”  Now I was raking in piles of money and playing in a very relaxed manner.

By lunchtime I was up over $11,000 and I thought that I would treat Martin for lunch.  I called him and told him that I was treating and he should pick his favorite place for lunch.

I met him out front and we headed to North Las Vegas and Santa Fe Station.

He prepared me by telling me that I was about to eat the best Mexican food in Las Vegas.

We had a great lunch at Cabos.  Martin was very interested in my winnings.  He told me that he had been studying Tracker Blackjack and he had a couple of ideas about some changes he might make.

Naturally I was curious and I asked him what he was going to change.

He kept his ideas to himself and just said, “I want to play around with some of the bets.  I’ll let you know how it works out.”

Martin dropped me off at Bally’s for my afternoon session.  I intended to play at the $100 level for the rest of the day and see how well I could do.

I found an empty table with a very nice young woman dealing.  She was friendly and seemed to be cheering for me from the beginning.  Even though she worked for the casino I knew that most of her income came from tips and I didn’t disappoint her.

About every fifteen minutes I would slide a $25 chip over to her side of the table.  Her smile made it well worth the investment.

As a $100 player I expected to win close to $7,000 an hour.  After playing about 50 minutes I was up over $8,000.  I attributed the faster win rate to the fact that the table had stayed mostly empty and I was getting in more hands per hour than I had planned.

After a couple of hours I counted my chips again and saw that my afternoon winnings were up over $17,000.  I was getting stiff from sitting and needed a break.  The dealer, Jessica, promised to save my spot and I walked around a few minutes to clear out the kinks.  When I came back there was one other player at the table and my spot was still available for me.

I resumed playing and by the time I decided to call it quits I had won $23,454 that afternoon.  Adding in my morning winnings of $11,201, and I came up with a total of $34,655 for the day.

Before I left I gave Jessica another black chip.  I walked out front, called Martin and told him that I was treating again and that I was depending on him to come up with something special.  He asked me if I liked Thai food.  I told him I did and off we went to Sea: The Thai Experience for a Bangkok inspired evening.

Martin Silverthorne Joins Me in Taking On the Bellagio!

I got a good night’s sleep that night, the first in several nights.  I was getting into the rhythm of playing and my anxiety level had come down at least a couple of notches.

Martin had surprised me the night before saying that he might join me the next day and I was looking forward to his company.

He told me he was going to try out Tracker Blackjack with a little twist of his own.  He was still mysterious about what the twist might be and he told me to just wait and see.

For a change I picked up Martin the next morning and we headed for Bellagio.

Martin explained why he had picked Bellagio for play –

“Bellagio deals almost perfect blackjack for a system like Tracker Blackjack.  They use six decks and allow doubling after splitting and surrender.  Best of all is their bet range - $50 to $10,000 in some games.”

I looked at him funny.  “Do you think we’ll need to make bets as high as $10,000?”

He looked serious.  “Maybe not, but why not be prepared.”

We found parking in the rear and walked past the dancing fountains into the heart of the beast.  Martin knew where to find the right table and the two of us sat down.  We were the only players at the table facing a young fresh-faced young dealer named Laura.

This was my last day here and a lot depended on my play in the next few hours. I had planned my play the night before and was prepared.  I had player cards for $100, $200 and even $300 bets with me.

Martin had one small card with him that he referred to before we sat down and then put away.

I started out making $50 bets, the minimum on this table.  I quickly moved up to making $100, then $200 bets.  I figured I would stay at this level about an hour and then decide if I wanted to bet larger.

Martin started out with $100 bets.  He played about fifteen minutes at this level then pulled out a different card, glanced at it and started making $200 bets.

Thirty minutes into the game each of us was making $200 bets.  I decided to stay at this level for a while.  Martin on the other hand quickly moved up to making $300 bets.

I watched him make a couple of bets and I could see that he was playing a little differently than I was.  However, I couldn’t worry about it at the time as I had to concentrate on my own play.

We stopped play about 11:45.  Martin told me we had reservations at Rio’s Buzios Seafood Restaurant.  We called a cab so that we didn’t have to hassle the traffic.

I had fried shrimp, my favorite.  Martin had some scallops with some kind of sauce on it.  More importantly we compared notes and Martin revealed what he was doing.

“I shortened your bets.  Let me show you.”  He pulled out his own card for $300 betting and I compared it with mine.

He had reduced the number and size of the bets used in his version of the system.

“I gain two important advantages with my version of the system.  First, I reduce the size of my bets so that I can more easily stay under the maximum bet limits.”

“And the other advantage is?”

“I reduce the size of the bankroll needed.”

He explained further and I listened, learning as he spoke.

However, even though he was convincing I decided to stick with what I knew.

He smiled, “We’ll compare notes at the end of the day.”

We Finish the Day With a Major Hit on the Bellagio!

It was after 2:00 before we resumed play.  I cautiously moved up to making $300 bets.  Martin decided to try some $400 bets.

Each of us continued to win.  By now we had a couple of bosses more or less continuously watching us.  There was no real heat and they didn’t interfere with our play.  However, I was aware that they were watching and would have liked nothing better than an excuse to ask us to leave.

The reason was pretty obvious. As a $300 bettor in a fairly fast game I estimated that I was winning over $11,000 an hour.

Martin at the $400 betting level was pulling in close to $15,000 an hour.  At his rate we were taking the casino for over $26,000 an hour!

I continued to watch my bankroll grow.  Finally, I decided that I had played enough.  I didn’t have an exact count but I knew that I was more than $65,000 ahead for the day.  Glancing at Martin’s piles of chips I estimated that he was up over one hundred big ones.

We pulled off, cashed in and headed for Rio.  We didn’t discuss our winnings until we got to one of Rio’s lounges and we compared notes.

I told Martin that I had won $66,522 at Bellagio.  That brought my trip winnings up to a new record for me –

I had won $107,296 in three days.

Martin congratulated me.  I finally asked him how he had done.

“Over 100 thousand, my friend.  A toast to you and your system.”

The Professor Liked What He Saw But He Still Wanted More Testing!

While I was in Las Vegas L.R. continued to play online.  After I returned I also continued to play and win online.  A couple of weeks later we felt like we had more than enough games to validate our system.  So we took our results to Professor Z to get his blessing.

To our surprise he wanted even more play –

“You have good results.  But we need more than this before we can conclude that this system is a net winner.”

I looked at the Professor and then L.R. in astonishment.  L.R. just sort of shrugged and said, “He’s right you know. Even though we have played several hundred sessions that’s still not enough to prove this system is statistically valid.”

The Professor also added, “You are showing me a 100% win rate.  I think it should be a little lower.  My calculations show that you should be winning about 98.7% of your sessions.  Maybe you are making mistakes, I don’t know.”

I was sure that we hadn’t made any major mistakes in our play.  When I looked at L.R. he had a resigned look on his face that seemed to say, “You know the Professor.  Once he makes his mind up there’s no changing it.”

The Professor had a group of students available for testing online. However, he didn’t know that many people who could play in land-based games around the world.

While he and L.R. were discussing potential online players I thought of Martin Silverthorne.  I figured with his vast experience in testing systems that he might be able to help us out.

67 Players Tested Tracker Blackjack Worldwide!

L.R. and the professor assembled a total of 33 players.  As expected, most of them were to play online.

I got with Martin and between the two of us we lined up 34 more players.

Here’s how our players ultimately broke down:

We had 18 U.S. players who would play online.

We had six Canadian, four British, two Irish, two German and two Australian players to play online.

That gave us 34 online players covering the U.S. and five other countries.

We had a total of 33 players lined up to test the system in land-based casinos.

There were 19 U.S. players from all over the United States.

In addition, we had three Canadian, one Brit, two from the Netherlands, one from Germany, one from the Czech Republic, one from Sweden, two from South African and three Australians designated as land-based casino players.

The test was extensive –

By the time we had finished our players had played 10,760 games.

Their bets ranged from $1 to $500 base bets, so that we covered a variety of different playing levels.

Here’s What We Discovered –

Our players beat all land-based versions of blackjack!

They beat the few single-deck hand-held games still around.

They beat two-deck, four-deck, six and eight-deck games!

They beat the games dealt by Continuous Shuffling Machines.

They beat games played with European no-hole card rules.

They even beat games paying just 6:5 for blackjacks!

Online they did just as well –

They easily beat all online versions of blackjack!

They consistently beat the smaller games with $1 to $100 bet limits.

They walked all over games offering $5 to $500 betting limits.

And they beat the “high roller” online games that accepted bets of $500 or higher!

Our players made short work of online blackjack no matter which version they played against!

Tracker Blackjack Continues Its Perfect Win Rate!

When L.R. and I showed a perfect win rate to the Professor he doubted that such a record was possible.

However, having participated in our worldwide player test he had to believe the results that came in from our players –

Just like us they never lost a game!

After we summarized the results of 10,760 games the Professor insisted on auditing the results.  He set up a team to review game after game looking for errors.

And, of course he found some player errors.  It is impossible to play over 270,000 hands perfectly.

Sometimes players hit when they should have stood. 

Other hands were botched as well –

In some cases players should have doubled instead of split.

We found many errors with soft-doubling hands.

And we found errors in bets.  Sometimes the players’ bets were too low.

In other cases they over bet.

The Professor had some kind of program that considered “Player Errors” in determining the accuracy of the system.

When he completed his analysis he proudly announced –

“I can state that the results submitted by the players is 99% accurate within a two-point margin of error.”

I turned to L.R. and asked him, “What does that mean?”

L.R. smiled.  “It means that the players really did win 100% of their games.  It is as close as the Professor will ever come to saying that a system is perfect!”
